Sarayu Iyengar is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 8 years of experience in the mental health field. Having lived in 3 different countries, Sarayu has extensively worked with clients from diverse ethnic and cultural background across the lifespan and developed multicultural competence. She has served clients in inpatient hospital, outpatient, and in-home settings with concerns ranging from anxiety, depression, complex trauma, OCD, psychiatric disorders, substance use, dual diagnosis, childhood and geriatric problems. She specializes in Trauma and crisis intervention; LGBTQ+; Domestic Violence; Grief and Loss counseling; Alzheimer’s and related Dementia; Spirituality. Sarayu is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) along with traditional and evidence-based treatment approaches. She has experience with individual, group, couples and family counseling and utilizes a person-centered and systemic approach to help clients navigate developmental challenges, interpersonal and communication struggles. Through her own acculturation process, Sarayu has cultivated interest in facilitating immigrants and marginalized populations in their own acculturation and identity development. Sarayu believes in creating a safe space for clients to feel vulnerable and empowering them to take an active role in their healing process and realize their true potential.
