Amber Borges

WISE Program Clinical Director

Amber Borges, LCSW, ACHP-SW is the WISE Clinical Director for Stokes Counseling Services. In her management role, Amber is responsible for the supervision of LMSW’s and LPCA’s for the WISE, FAM, School Based Services and outpatient teams. She ensures that they engage in furthering their clinical knowledge, expanding their skill sets and providing the best care for their clients. She serves as a Commissioner for the Elderly in Naugatuck. Amber is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with advanced certification in hospice and palliative care. She has previous direct care and leadership experience.

Amber works with the team at Stokes to coordinates the provision of the WISE program (which is Counseling for Seniors, Medically Compromised & Disabled Communities(including family & caregivers) These services include, but are not limited to, the complex needs of aging populations, medical comorbidities and how anxiety, depression, trauma, caregiver fatigue and other mental health symptoms exacerbate those symptoms for clients, their loved ones and their caregivers. Amber participates in outreach and networking fostering building relationships with external resources so that Stokes clinicians can provide therapeutic services wherever the client resides (at home, a nursing home, and assisted living) so clients are able to maintain meaningful connections at home. As a therapist, Amber specializes in the assessment and treatment of diverse populations in family systems, palliative care, hospice care, grief and trauma informed care. She specializes in having conversations with clients and has done numerous presentations in the medical community about individualized goals of care near the end of life and advance directives. Utilizing a strengths-based perspective and a person-centered approach, Amber employs a wide array of evidence-based interventions to assist in improving clients overall functioning and happiness including but not limited to, domestic violence, anxiety , reunification, depression and family-based interventions.

Amber is an outgoing, empathetic, and passionate individual who believes in helping people identify their strengths and utilizing them.

Amber is a member of the NASW CT Ethics Committee which assists in educating and providing support to the professional community about standards of ethical professional practice.
